Mobile Art Pavilion is a traveling contemporary art museum designed by architect Zaha Hadid and based on an original idea by Karl Lagerfeld, built on the initiative of Chanel Haute Couture. The artists were selected by Fabrice Bousteau, editorial director of Beaux Arts magazine. The soundtrack was recorded by actress Jeanne Moreau.
The dimensions of this museum are 29 m wide, 45 m long, 6 m high, for a total area of 720 sq m. An access terrace extends over 128 sq m and the central atrium skylight extends over 65 sq m. The museum is a precise assembly of 700 unique pieces whose maximum size is 3 cm thick and 2.25 m long, to be transported in containers. The material used is a polymer sandwich and the zenith openings are air cushions. Once dismantled, the Mobile Art fills exactly 56 containers and its assembly requires 15 days of handling.
