Steven Holl Architects – The private gallery and house, Kangbuk, Seoul, Korea, 2008-2012

The Daeyang Gallery and House, designed by Steven Holl Architects, is located in the Kangbuk district of Seoul, South Korea.
The geometry of the roof plan was inspired by a 1967 sketch for a soundtrack by the Hungarian composer István Anhalt.
Three pavilions, one for the entrance, an event space and a residential one, are separated by a reflecting pool. Below, they are connected by a continuous art gallery space. The skylights open onto the roof of the pavilions and into the base of the reflecting tub bringing natural light into the spaces and below the gallery level.
