The Schminke house (in German Haus Schminke) is a villa on the outskirts of the German city of Löbau.
Built from 1930 to 1933 in organic style, it represents the most famous work among those designed by Hans Scharoun before the Second World War; it is also one of the most significant architectural works realized in the Weimar Republic, comparable in importance to the Villa Savoye by Le Corbusier or to the Villa Tugendhat by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
Currently the house is used as a museum and can be visited.
The villa was designed by Hans Scharoun on behalf of the industrialist Fritz Schminke, who owned land on the outskirts of Löbau.
Construction began in 1930 and, after some interruptions due to the economic crisis, was completed in 1933.
