Villa Kokkonen

Alvar Aalto, Villa Kokkonen, Finland, Järvenpää 1967-69

Alvar Aalto and composer Joonas Kokkonen became friends while they were members of the Academy of Finland at the same time. The first drawings for Villa Kokkonen were designed in a restaurant where Aalto and Kokkonen went to eat after visiting the site. The fan-shaped house is divided into three parts: the bedrooms and the kitchen, the dining room and the living room and finally the large studio of the composer dominates the house.
