Alberto Campo Baeza
"Precision...and the control of light in space"
Place of birth
Valladolid, Spagna nel 1946
Alberto Campo Baeza (Valladolid, 1946) is a Spanish architect, strongly interested in concepts such as precision, essence, gravity and the understanding and control of light in architectural space.
Characterized by the purist and minimalist style of the architectural volumes. His architecture is characterized by the logic of purity of forms. It evolved from the soft white-painted chalk of his early works… Wikipedia… >>
Praise of light
“… This is the beauty one would like for his architecture. A naked, intelligent, ESSENTIAL beauty, capable of capturing the head and the heart. For the head, with the overwhelming logic of reason, with the precision of dimensions, with the efficiency of proportions, with the clarity of scale. Built with an idea. For the heart, with the warm feeling of emotion. With the splendor of light. With the serenity of spatial order that gives you control of gravity. And it is this idea, light and gravity are the three main components of that architecture that I call ESSENTIAL. This architecture proclaiming MORE with LESS. Like a reflection on Mies van der Rohe’s ‘less is more’. A more that wants to keep man, with the complexity of the culture of him as the center of the world created as a center of architecture. A minus which, especially in minimalism, aims to reach the center of the question, with only the precise number of elements “physically” capable of translating these ideas.
IDEA, LIGHT and GRAVITY. Nothing more, nothing less…”
