Cantina Château Faugères
Mario Botta - Cantina Château Faugères, Saint Emilion, Francia, 2005-2009
The architect Botta says that "Silvio Denz asked me to design a new cellar. I imagined a partially buried stone base with the spaces necessary for the production and storage of the barriques for aging. A single architectural emergency stands in the center - a turret for the activities of meeting with the public, tasting - and at the top, open onto the landscape, a large covered terrace. The external covering in yellow natural stone with a simple texture underlines the geometric traces of the composition. The project establishes a comparison between the "rational" architecture built by man and the "organic" trend of the landscape with the aim of promoting mutual enrichment ".
